Half Our Deen: A Muslim Matrimony Site

A lot of Muslim brothers and sisters find their spouses mostly through family or family friends.  We have aunties who keep a watchful eye on anyone who’s between 16 to 35 years old.  These aunties attend every single wedding function in their area and literally interview mothers or sisters of someone who she sees is ready for marriage.  And it is because of these aunties that mothers force their children to dress to impress and put on their best smile – and behavior.  If you pass aunty’s standards and impress her, she’ll list you in her books and find you a match.

But what if you do not know any match-making aunties?  Or if there wasn’t one where you live?  What if you are a new revert to Islam and didn’t know a lot of people from the Muslim community?  Surely, if your parents aren’t Muslims, chances are they won’t be able to help much in finding you a Muslim spouse.   Even for a lot of Muslims parents it is difficult to find the ideal spouse for their children.  And this is where Muslim matrimonial sites come in.

One particular website that stands out from the rest is Half Our Deen.  It is a Muslim matrimony site for brothers and sisters who are serious about getting married, so there’s no chat room (no sending hugs, kisses, winks etc – and no, you can’t poke either).  You won’t find annoying ads on the website.  Don’t you just hate pop-up ads?  Profiles are strictly private, and can only be viewed by paid members.  Another thing is that, Half Our Deen is question based, rather than statistics based.  This basically means that you get more important information about a person than merely reading about his or her body weight, age and blood type.  Questions are divided into categories so you can see how much you have in common (i.e. religious views, family, personality, etc…), and you can post questions on a profile that interests you so that person can answer them for you.  Oh, and there is also a series of videos on the website that talks about marriages in Islam.

How much does it cost?  Either pay $5 a month with a 1 year commitment or $9 month to month.  Remember guys and gals, this is an ad-free site which guarantees you complete privacy.  I think $9 a month is reasonable enough.

Oh, and I particularly like the option that allows you to sign your son or daughter up as a parent because I strongly believe in getting parents (or elders)  involved in this very important decision of your life.

So, my single brothers and sisters in Islam, do check Half Our Deen out.  I hope it helps you in finding an ideal Muslim spouse, inshaAllah.

PS:  This is not a paid advertisement, just in case you’re wondering.

I’m a little tempted to try out one of these sites, it seems a lot of people are doing so. But a lot of these sites also has non-muslims on them, which I don’t understand why? I mean if you are a Muslim, most likely you want to marry another Muslim, so why the non-Muslims? Then I rather just try eHarmony.com or Match.com. Most of these Muslim sites have non-muslims and dating and stuff. Have you been on Half Our Deen? Does anyone know how it is? Its not free. I’m not sure if that is a good thing or not.. LOL! Thanks for the info. I am definitely curious.

Ahmad, the brothers behind Half Our Deen are making sure that only Muslims put their profile up in the website. It’s not free because they need the money to maintain the website without having all those ads.

And no, I haven’t tried Half Our Deen. I’ve found the perfect match for me four years ago 🙂

  7. Ive heard about this, it really is awesome.
And i think something like this is needed, because half the time people are really not that serious about the whole marriage thing.
And the vids by Baba Ali are great too! have you watched any?
