At Dusk

Dusk is just an illusion, because the sun is either above the horizon or below it. And that means that day and night are linked in a way that few things are; there cannot be one without the other, yet they cannot exist at the same time. How would it feel I wonder, to be always together, yet forever apart? (Anonymous)

Photographed by Nadia Masood

This picture was taken from a bridge that hangs high above a highway;  it joins two parks, one on each side of the road.  From the bridge, one can clearly see the skyline of Dubai.  The tall, lean structure on the left is the Burj Dubai, currently the world’s tallest building.

I am not a morning person, perhaps because we don’t reach home from work before 10 in the evening and by the time we get into bed, it’s already 1 am.  Therefore,  I hardly have any photographs of the dawn.  But I love sunsets.

The fading glow of the sun at dusk has a soothing effect on me;  it calms my mind and soul.  Looking at the sun at dusk reminds me to take a rest after an entire day’s work.  It reminds me to count the blessings and be thankful for them.  It reminds me to remember my mistakes and learn from them, then eventually letting them go to unburden my heart.  It also reminds me that tomorrow will be a new beginning, a chance to be a better person, an opportunity to get closer to Him, and to live life to its fullest.

Jummah mubarak, everyone!  Have a great weekend.

The background fades so nicely in the distance — if the focus on the foreground was intentional, you’re AN EXCELLENT PHOTOGRAPHER ! 🙂

Thank you so much! Yes, the focus on the foreground was definitely intentional. I wanted to capture the bridge and the buildings gradually fading away together into the distance. You’re a very good observer 🙂

Btw…would you tell me how did you manage to put this little obscure smiley [ this > 🙂 ] in the top-right corner of this page ? Or is it an illusion deceiving only me?

Almost all WordPress themes have that small smiley somewhere on the page. Perhaps if you look closer in your blog page, you can find your own smiley 🙂

It looks so much like fog. Very eerie but in a good way.

It’s actually dust; we just had a storm a few days back.
